How do you build a BIM Optimization-inator? — reposted from @lodplanner

Don’t all Owner, Architects, Engineers, and Contractors need a BIM Optimization-inator? :)

When your week starts with incredibly valuable feedback from BIM experts asking you to completely modify a major part of the app but ends with “could you change the color of that button” maybe this is a sign that the BIM community shares our desire to push for a leaner BIM workflow.

It’s been exciting for our small team to spend our days listening to feedback from BIM experts around the world and our nights reworking the product ready for the next set of meetings in the morning.

“Smart Lean BIM” has become our mantra and drives our focus on improving and simplifying the workflow. Building something simple for a complex BIM workflow has been a challenge — having someone called “Mr. Algorithm” on the team is a must.

Our development teams are a bunch of complete rockstars who turn challenging concepts into a beautiful BIM planning platform.

It is David’s team that is in charge of the BIM Optimization-inator!:

Owners we’ve spoken with love the way they can generate a detailed and very visual requirements scope. We should have known that getting to a draft BIM Execution Plan (BEP) and LOD Specification in minutes would be a winner — one quote from an architect was “LOD Planner would have saved me 5 days last week!”.

The resource estimate feature is also resonating, specifically with architects — it seems these guys want to do architecture, not resource planning.

Contractors see a benefit in rolling the BIM Execution Plan into the same solution that manages BIM and LOD requirements. They also see a huge time-saving when printing the “BIMeautiful” Pull Planning cards from LOD Planner.

The kicker so far was when one contractor hypothesized that their company wouldn’t be in a $250,000 claim right now if they’d had LOD Planner for their project. We wish that we could have helped you on that.

We had hoped to get 10 companies on board but now over 800 have registered. Soon we may need to restrict the early registrations.

We’re still processing all of your feedback, even if it’s just related to button colors and line weights, please keep it coming!
